COMÉRCIO ESCENA – Department of Commerce
The Department of Commerce at Villa Marie Degree College for Women organised a vivid expo, “COMÉRCIO ESCENA” – A Villa Arena for reaching out to the world of Commerce, at the Jaya Gardens on 2nd & 3rd February 2019 with the selfless motive of bringing the lesser known traders and handicrafts of India to the frontlines. “COMÉRCIO ESCENA” was also an excellent event to have witnessed unity in diversity of our country, en masse.
The event disseminates knowledge about Foreign Trade showcasing different countries of the World with regard to their culture and tradition, natural resources, exotic tourist locations, the cuisine and their role in International Business. From Switzerland to Belgium, from China to Sri Lanka, from Mexico to U.A.E, from South Africa to India – the students showcased an advance understanding of the operation of global organisations, strategic concepts and current theories in global business and the blend of cross cultural sensitivity.
Students displayed great leadership and team work skills as they spanned the entire area of Hyderabad, to bring the hidden traders and skills of India to the limelight. The trade fair showcased not less than 40 stalls with products ranging from handmade jute bags to modern footwear and suits. The traders were advertised around the city for free, by the students to popularize the products in the flourishing market. The tickets for the event were released, followed by the inauguration of the press meet.
All the activities involved were related to the subjects on Commerce, Accounting, Advertising and International Business, giving the students a chance to put their textual knowledge into practice.
A cultural programme was also organised on both the days which gave a platform for the students to display their talent in the form of dances, which was a true depiction of the theme on COMÉRCIO ESCENA. Students also confidently walked the ramp with poise and composure in the Fashion Show based on the themes of “Enchanted Forest” & “Brides of India”.
The event was graced by the presence of Honourable Principal Dr. Philomena, who was instrumental in the success of the event. The Chief Guest for the event Mrs. K.
